Emergency Management Department

Town Website

The purposes of the Emergency Management Department are to coordinate resources for our town’s first–responding emergency services as well as plan for extended situations involving all the residents of the town. With those purposes in mind, a Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meets on a regular basis and develops local emergency plans as well as documents available resources and personnel.

The level and types of possible threats to our community run a range from mild to potentially severe and from the known to the unknown. We do know that the Town of Monroe faces threats of natural disasters such as snow and ice storms and hurricanes. It is certainly wise for each resident and their families to prepare for the hardships such storms might cause.

In the case of an IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY –DIAL 911. You will be talking with a dispatcher who will be able to notify police, emergency medical, or fire personnel about your situation and dispatch immediate responders. It is important, if you can, that you stay at the phone and give the dispatcher the information they will need to send out the appropriate responders.

A disaster can happen at any time. Your family will cope best by preparing for a disaster before it strikes.

By planning ahead and gathering supplies in advance, your family can endure an evacuation or home confinement.
