KNOX BOX: Business owners are reminded that a fire department Knox Box (key box) can be installed on their buildings to allow the fire department access without causing any physical damage. These secured boxes allow the fire department to enter businesses without causing any damage to doors, locks, or windows.o

Fire Marshal Mission Statement:

It is the mission of the Monroe, CT Fire Marshals Office to provide professional Life Safety protection to the citizens of the Town of Monroe, CT through Inspection, Prevention, and Investigation as regulated by the applicable Connecticut State Laws.

Responsibilities:

It is the responsibility of the Fire Marshal's Office to perform several duties, our objective is to provide Life Safety from fire related hazards and related dangers. The Town of Monroe currently employs one full time Fire Marshal and three part time Deputy Fire Marshals.

The Fire Marshals Office has the responsibility of enforcing many sections of Connecticut General Statute chapter 541, as well as numerous codes that are under the provision of these statutes. The Fire Marshal's Office is required to inspect buildings and facilities of public service and occupancies regulated by the Connecticut State Fire Safety Code. The object of these inspections is to determine if a business is adhering to the fire code, with the goal being to protect the public and employees.

Attention All Town Residents:
Effective June 1, 2009 all 2009 issued Open Burning Permits are suspended!
All residents that are holding such permits are reminded that open burning is not allowed during the months of; June, July, August, and September. Open buring will begin again on October 1, 2009
FAILURE TO DO SO CAN RESULT IN YOUR PERMIT BEING REVOKED!
