Mission Statement |

The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&ZC) is responsible for the physical, social and economic planning and coordinated development of the Town in accordance with the Town charter, Comprehensive Plan, Plan of Conservation and Development and State Statutes. The Planning and Zoning Commission prepares, adopts, and implements a Plan of Conservation and Development; reviews and recommends municipal improvements per State General Statutes; adopts and amends both zoning and subdivision regulations; and reviews and acts upon referrals from federal, state, and regional agencies.

To manage the day to day activities of the Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.

To provide information an advice to the
P+Z and ZBA to enable them to carry out their programs and decision making processes.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
To manage development projects under the direct approval of the Planning and Zoning Commission; plan and application reviews. |

ENFORCEMENT/ADJUDICATION
Enforcement of zoning and subdivision
laws; appeal proceedings.
|
|
|
|
|
PUBLIC ASSISTANCE
Provide information and assistance to the general public regarding zoning and subdivision issues. Maintain and provide development-related records. |
|
GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE
Provide assistance to various other municipal agencies as required by statue or otherwise
needed. Liaison as assigned to other agencies.
