The current working draft (December ’07) of Zoning Regulations that the Planning and Zoning Commission will be utilizing in its continuing review and discussion of completing a final proposal for consideration is available here for the public’s information and review. This document incorporates all additions and corrections that have evolved from Commission meetings through November 15, 2007.

Mission Statement
- GENERAL ADMINISTRATION. To manage the day to day activities of the Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT. To manage development projects under the direct approval of the Planning and Zoning Commission; plan and application reviews.
- ADVISORY AND RESEARCH. To provide information and advice to the P+Z and ZBA to enable them to carry out their programs and decision making processes.
- ENFORCEMENT/ADJUDICATION. Enforcement of zoning and subdivision laws; appeal proceedings.
- PUBLIC ASSISTANCE. Provide information and assistance to the general public regarding zoning and subdivision issues. Maintain and provide development-related records.
- GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE. Provide assistance to various other municipal agencies as required by statute or otherwise needed. Liaison as assigned to other agencies.

PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&ZC) is responsible for the physical, social and economic planning and coordinated development of the Town in accordance with the Town charter, Comprehensive Plan, Plan of Conservation and Development and State Statutes.
The Planning and Zoning Commission prepares, adopts, and implements a Plan of Conservation and Development; reviews and recommends municipal improvements per State General Statutes; adopts and amends both zoning and subdivision regulations; and reviews and acts upon referrals from federal, state, and regional agencies. |

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR FUTURE FARMING
The Connecticut Department of Agriculture has established the Farm Link Program. It is a matchmaking service to help new farmers find farm land owners (for rent or for sale) and to aid in the process of land rental and/or farm transfer to the next generation of farmers. A website will be developed to aid linking farm seekers and farm owners. Persons interested in the process can receive applications now available at www.farmlink.uconn.edu or calling the CT Dept. of Agriculture at (860) 713-2503.
