Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs)
Q. What do I do if my recycling did not get picked up?
A. It is best to call our recycling subcontractor, Enviro, at 332-0096 in Bridgeport and they will tell you when they can pick it up.
Q. How do I go about getting a recycling bin?
A. You can obtain a bin from the Public Works Dept., Room 215, in the Town Hall, M-F, 9:00-4:30. If you have your old bin, even if it is damaged, please bring it with you and we can give you a new bin. A second bin is available for $6.00.
Q. When will my curb/lawn be repaired from damage caused by snow plows?
A. The repairs are completed in the same order as the plow route which allows us to repair as many as possible per day. We usually complete all repairs by the end of August.
Q. When does Dial-A-Dump/Bulky Pick-up start?
A. We begin taking reservations the third Monday in October and pick-ups begin early November. Reservations can be made on line at dialadump@monroect.org or by phone at (203)452-2814, M-F, 9:00-4:30.
Q. Why can't I install a basketball hoop in the Town Right-of-Way?
A. First and foremost, it is NOT safe to play in the streets. Additionally, permanently installed basketball hoops impede the Highway Department's ability to safely maintain the roadways and pose a threat to the installer due to buried underground utilities.
Q. Why won't the Town repair or fix my mailbox damaged by snow plows?
A. Mailboxes must be installed properly in order for the Town to consider a repair/replacement. Too often, many posts have rotted over the years and are down from the force of the snow coming off the plows. Others are installed too close to the road which impedes the Highway Department's ability to safely perform the maintenance of the roadways. Mailboxes should be installed 15” from the face of the curb, or edge of roadway (if no curb), to the FRONT of the mailbox. Mailboxes should be installed to withstand the force of snow coming off the plows.
