Public Notice Registry
In accordance with the provisions of Section 8-7d(g), CT General Statutes, the Planning and Zoning Commission has established a "Public Notice Registry" which will be used to inform interested property owners, electors, and non-profit organizations of certain proposals by this land use agency.
Individuals and organizations who ask to be placed on the registry will be notified by either regular mail or email of the commencement of public hearings on Commission initiated amendments to the Town's Zoning Regulations, amendments to the Town's Zoning Map, amendments to the Town's Subdivision Regulations, and adoption of or amendments to the Town's Plan of Conservation and Development. Notices will be sent at least seven days prior to the beginning of the public hearing. These notices are in addition to the legal notices published in the local newspaper.
The notices cover only those proposals initiated by the Planning and Zoning Commission; notices will not be sent regarding applications submitted by applicants other than the Commission itself (e.g., individuals or corporations). If, for example, a property owner submits an application to change the zoning of his parcel from residential to business, the Commission will not send notices of the public hearing to those on the Public Notice Registry. On the other hand, if the Commission itself proposes to change the zoning of a parcel from residential to business, the Commission will send a notice to all those on the Public Notice Registry.
