4/20/2016 - Rt. 111 Bridge Replacement begins April 24, 2016

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

The Department of Transportation has announced the start of construction for the full replacement of a bridge on Route 111 near Ryegate Terrace in Monroe, which carries Route 111 over an unnamed brook. The new bridge will have three twelve-foot travel lanes and two eight-foot shoulders. Construction will be conducted in two stages.

In the first stage, traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge while the western part of the bridge, roadway, sidewalk and drainage is constructed.

During the second stage, the eastern part of the bridge will be built, and traffic will be shifted to the portion of the road constructed in the first stage and will include two eleven-foot lanes and two one-foot shoulders. Ryegate Terrace will be closed to traffic during the second stage, and a local detour will be put in place.

Construction begins on April 24, 2016 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2017.

I urge you to use caution and maintain a safe driving speed while in the area.

If you have any questions about this project or any other issues related to state government, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office.
