9/17/2018 - Discount Prescription Program for all Residents

MONROE, CT – First Selectman Ken Kellogg wants to remind all residents that they can receive a discount prescription card, just for being a Town of Monroe resident.   Through the Town’s relationship with the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM), Monroe residents have saved almost $39,000 since the inception of the program.   This represents a 41% savings over what residents would have paid for the 1,153 prescriptions filled thus far.

Kellogg said that the program is provided at no cost to the Town, and can be used by any resident to obtain steep discounts and savings on any prescriptions not covered by insurance, including certain vision and hearing services, discounts on eye exams, LASIK procedures, frames and lenses, and hearing aids.  “Even if you have prescription insurance, this card can help residents save when their current insurance card doesn’t cover a medication, or if their pet needs medication that can be filled at a regular retail pharmacy.”

The discount cards are widely accepted at all national chain pharmacies and most local independent pharmacies.  Cards can be used by all residents regardless of age, income or existing health coverage.   There are no enrollment forms, membership fees, restrictions or limits on frequency of use for residents.

“CCM is pleased to offer this valuable community service to the Town of Monroe,” says CCM’s Shari Fiveash, Director of Member Services.

Residents who already have a card may continue to use the same card.    Anyone needing a new card may obtain one by any of the following methods:

  • Printing out a new card at, and selecting the Town of Monroe from the drop-down menu.
  • Picking up a card at the Library, Senior Center, or the First Selectman’s Office in Town Hall.
  • Request a new card be mailed to you by calling the First Selectman’s Office at 203-452-2821.

More information on participating pharmacy, comparison shopping for medications, and information on the discounts available on vision, hearing and LASIK services are available in the “Learn the Perks of the Card” section on the website.
